Tropico 6 March beta update released!
Fellow Tropicans! :tropicoflag:
Today’s update comes with a new feature: the random map generator.
We also further improved the game based on player feedback, added gameplay options to the multiplayer and added multiple bug and gameplay fixes.
Please restart any current missions and sandbox games after updating the beta.
Please do not attempt to load and continue games from saves that were created in older versions of the beta.
This could lead to unexpected issues regarding the simulation of Tropicans and the overall stability of the game.

Features and Improvements

New feature:

Random Map Generator (RMG):

Players can generate random maps for Sandbox games.

Contains multiple settings for size, number of islands, climate variations, abundance of resources, etc.

The game displays a shareable code during the setup of maps and during the in-game pause menu. You can share this code with other players if you have created a beautiful or especially challenging map.

Added additional keybindings to the options menu.[/

Multiplayer:

Added multiple new options to interact with other players:

Trade

Special multiplayer raids

Diplomacy options, e.g. the option to ask for funds

Added the option to cancel an attack on another player.

Signs & feedback:

Added an overlay for “Workforce Occupancy” of buildings.

Added an icon that appears if a building has no workforce.

Added indicators for buildings that display effects on other buildings in the vicinity. E.g.:

Plantations in “Multi Culture” work mode will display the radius in which other plantations receive and add to the bonus.

Fire stations will display the buildings that are affected by the selected work mode.

Media buildings will highlight buildings that will be affected by the propaganda effects of work modes.

Added warning pop-up messages for two possible lose conditions:

Players running out of mandate in Colonial Era

Players having low support close to elections

Added a history log for trade routes on the trade menu.

Added explanations for consequences of cheating during elections.

Visual improvements:

The default palace now features some decorations.

Savegames now display a shiny Tropico star as an icon. Viva Tropico!

Added additional keybindings to the options menu.

Bug Fixes

Improved the traffic system to mitigate possible traffic jams.

Fixed more than 100 bugs, such as:

Added additional keybindings to the options menu.

Construction workers being stuck when using a tunnel.

Fixed issues with the crops on plantations causing visual issues.

Fixed edict “Mandatory Fiesta” affecting more buildings than it should.

Fixed buildings emitting pollution, if they have no power to operate.

Fixed several issues with the pathfinding of Tropicans.

Fixed retired Tropicans sliding while walking.

Fixed collision issues for several buildings, e.g. Stadium, Cigar Factory, Cathedral, etc.

Fixed a flaw in the calculation of happiness values for Tropicans.

Fixed Tanks and Squads using the Teleferic.

Fixed several crashes.

Fixed low framerates caused by having a high number of active Guard Towers.

Made improvements to the impact that plantations and ambient animals had on performance.

Multiplayer Bug Fixes

First of all, thank you for all the feedback and bug reports that we received during the initial testing of multiplayer since the Tropico 6 Beta February update.

Aside from the newly-added gameplay features and crash fixes listed above, we also added several gameplay bug fixes.

Fixed icons staying visible after the buildings were destroyed for the client.

Fixed visible hourglass symbols in the raid menu that were spawned by other players.

Fixed the colors of outposts and areas not being applied correctly.

Fixed the client not being able to place mines for advanced resources in later eras.

Fixed clients not being able to place roads anymore.

Fixed thieves targeting the Tropicans of other players for pickpocketing.

Fixed the client getting stuck when joining a lobby that no longer exists.

Fixed a memory leak for lobbies.

Balancing

Note: Right now, the balancing team is in the process of identifying and fixing any other outstanding bugs or issues from both a technical and gameplay perspective in time for release.

The offers from the Broker and the general ease to generate Swiss Money were on our radar for quite some time and was the first topic we wanted to address when balancing out the system.

After these changes, it will still be powerful, but it will not feel like cheating anymore.

Nuclear Program: reduced the time required to build the bomb.

Spy Academy: sped up the required time for generic raids.

Ministry: balanced the gameplay effects of ministers.

Reduced the base beauty value of all maps.

Balanced the heist setbacks for all raid buildings.

Reduced the Swiss Money conversion rate for the “Building Permit” edict.

Increased the costs for Broker offers “Image Campaign” and “Convincing Talk”.

Reduced Swiss Money rewards from Broker quests.

Reduced Swiss Money gained from work mode “Slush Funds” of the Bank.

Reduced Swiss Money gained from work mode “Special Tax” of the Customs Office.

Reduced the small volume setting of trade routes for all eras.

Increased the cost to hire uneducated workers.

Streamlined the range of damage that military units and buildings are inflicting.

Made some improvements to the missions “Acts of God” and “Speakeasy”.

Improvements to Warfare

Changed the system for providing feedback to the player in an encounter:

Removed the health bars around the icons for squads.

Added new “Encounter icons”.

If military units are fighting, these icons will show up. Clicking on them will reveal more information about the participating squads and buildings.

Invading troops will now arrive at the nearest landing point and not necessarily at the Dock anymore.

Improved the overall presentation of combat.

Fixed military buildings only spawning half squads.

Known Issues

The overlays for Crop Conditions and Livestock Conditions on randomly-generated maps are flawed and display false colors.

Players should stick to the numerical value, which is displayed correctly.

The queue in the Research menu can display a bug, which causes queued up items to disappear as if the research was completed.

This is a visual bug only. The actual research works.

Gamepad support:

When using a PS4 controller, the game will display Xbox controller icons.

Building a Plantation, Farm or Mine can result in a very loud sound.

Video resolution:

If the game is running in "Borderless Windowed" mode, the resolution is locked to your desktop resolution.

Workaround: Switch to "Fullscreen" to have access to all resolution options.

Warfare:

Some issues may be encountered when it comes to the pathfinding and animations of units.

Sound effects during combat may be very loud.

Localization:

Some words may be displayed in English instead of your selected language.

Miscellaneous:

F2-function ingame does not work anymore.
