Difficile de ne pas reconnaître les nombreuses qualités dont fait preuve Field of Glory Kingdoms. Le résultat respire la passion des développeurs pour l’histoire et le jeu de stratégie, autour d'une formule maîtrisée de bout en bout. Le jeu nous abreuve de connaissances et nous plonge dans une expérience stratégique dense, contrôlée via une interface et des mécanismes simples à appréhender, bien que perfectibles.

Il faut cependant du temps pour comprendre FoG Kingdoms. Du temps aussi pour se faire à l’idée qu’être roi, pour AGEOD, c’est avant tout un métier d’expert-comptable. En ce sens, le jeu décevra une partie des joueurs et mériterait de développer des pans moins mathématiques, comme l’interaction avec les personnages ou la construction “visuelle” de notre empire. Cela aiderait à nous immerger dans notre royaume plutôt qu’à rester le nez sur les nombres, et à casser la monotonie ambiante des calculs, que seul FoG2 Medieval, vendu séparément, permet réellement.
