Here are some homemade weapon ideas I've been having for some time now. I was hoping to compile a longer list, but I haven't had any good ideas as of late.
Since DLC3's release has begun and it's bringing in new guns, I figured I might as well post what ideas I've come up with.
New Legendary Weapons:
These weapons follow stats typical for their type and manufacturer except for boosts due to their orange rarity and where otherwise noted.
Minotaur
Type: Pistol (Repeater)
Manufacturer: Atlas
Elemental Tech: None or any
Red Text Ability: Raging Bull. Fires 2 projectiles per shot. If both projectiles hit, target is knocked back.
Low rate of fire but fires two projectiles per shot. In addition, its knockback ability makes this gun ideal for enemies who get too close.
Manticore
Type: Shotgun (Combat Shotgun)
Manufacturer: Atlas
Elemental Tech: None or any
Red Text Ability: Armor Piercing Target has decreased bullet damage resistance.
A shotgun that overcomes the target’s armor. Made by Atlas for the Crimson Lance’s use against skags and spiderants, ironically also works against the Lance.
Eagle
Type: Pistol (Repeater)
Manufacturer: Dahl
Elemental Tech: None or any
Red Text Ability: Let it fly. No recoil.

Spider
Type: Shotgun (Combat Shotgun)
Manufacturer: Dahl
Elemental Tech: None or any
Red Text Ability: A web of death. Fires projectiles in an asterisk pattern.
Always spawns with 13 projectiles. Pattern: 1 projectile dead center, 2 each in a straight line: up or North, Northeast, right or East, Southeast, down or South, Southwest, left or West, and Northwest. Since pattern shotguns are generally disliked, this is my best guess on a pattern that would work. May spawn with the Holy crap! It shoots rockets! ability that overrides its pattern fire and fires a rocket dead center.
Slaughter
Type: Shotgun (Combat Shotgun)
Manufacturer: Jakobs
Elemental Tech: None.
Red Text Ability: The best at what it does, which isn’t very nice. Fires a shotgun rocket per shot in addition to normal shotgun projectiles.
Number of projectiles is always 7 (plus the additional rocket). If it spawns with Holy crap! It shoots rockets!, the red text will still work, eg. it will fire a total of two rockets.
Thunderbolt
Type: Pistol (Repeater)
Manufacturer: Maliwan
Elemental Tech: Shock x4
Red Text Ability: Chain Lightning. Splash effect similar to Maliwan’s other elemental legendaries.
Something to address the lack of legendary shock weapons in the game.
Libra
Type: Pistol (Repeater)
Manufacturer: S&S Munitions
Elemental Tech: Incendiary x2 (and Corrosive x2)
Red Text Ability: Fire & Brimstone. Inflicts both Incendiary and Corrosive elemental effects.
The pair of elemental effects is balanced against a low base damage. It’s a play on S&S’ “Ammo Capacity + Tech = I win!” philosophy.
Jupiter
Type: Shotgun (Assault Shotgun)
Manufacturer: S&S Munitions
Elemental Tech: Shock x2 or x3
Red Text Ability: Flash! Thunder! After an elemental effect triggers, the next shot gains +10 projectiles.
Usually generates with 7 projectiles based on the Crux and other S&S shotguns. Its ability is a one-two shield-breaking punch: the shock proc takes out the shield then the next shot deals extra damage to finish the target off. As an assault shotgun, it will never get the Holy crap! It shoots rockets! ability.
Avenger
Type: Combat Rifle (Assault Rifle)
Manufacturer: Tediore
Elemental Tech: None or any
Red Text Ability: Keep your finger on the trigger. High fire rate & fastest reload speed in the game.
A simple ability. I wanted something that behaved as close as possible to a portable gatling gun with a belt fed ammo supply (almost no reload), since the only gatling guns in-game are stationary hostile turrets.
Vindicator
Type: Submachine Gun
Manufacturer: Tediore
Elemental Tech: None or any
Red Text Ability: Son of a minigun. High fire rate & fastest reload speed in the game.
Submachine gun version of the Avenger.
Wager
Type: Shotgun (Combat Shotgun)
Manufacturer: Torgue
Elemental Tech: None
Red Text Ability: Call it, friendo. 50% chance per shot to gain +100 damage per projectile.
Always generated with 120x12 damage and a 12 magazine size. Following Torgue’s pattern of well-rounded guns, it can deal highly damaging lucky shots. If it spawns with the Holy crap! It shoots rockets! ability, the red text will still add +100 damage to the rocket. The text is adapted from a movie.
Chuikov
Type: Shotgun (Assault Shotgun)
Manufacturer: Vladof
Elemental Tech: None
Red Text Ability: Hammer & Sickle. While aiming through the scope, gains +30 accuracy and fires rockets instead.
Vladof generates shotguns with accuracies of 66.5, 48.7, 40.8, 23 and 6.7, giving the Chuikov’s “scoped firing mode” accuracies of 96.5, 78.7, 70.8, 53 and 36.7. As an assault shotgun, it will never get the Holy crap! It shoots rockets! ability.
New Gun Variants:
The following are new variants to the guns already in the game.
Impaling
Type: Combat Rifle
Component: Accessory
Gives the weapon a bayonet for melee attacks: +100% melee damage. In addition, it will slightly reduce accuracy but increases the range of your melee attacks.
Tornado
Type: Shotgun (Combat Shotgun)
Component: Accessory
Similar to SMGs whose bullets fly in a spiral pattern. The Tornado’s projectiles don’t scatter- instead they fly out in a clockwise spiral pattern. The spirals widen according to the gun’s accuracy. |
