The new boat elevator *UPDATE 16/10/10*

I needed a convenient, quick, and compact way to get to the bottom of my world. None of the designs that already existed suited my needs. Water ladders are decent, but they take forever to build, and are slow. The normal boat elevator either has to be cycling, which you have to wait for, or eats up your boat supply. So I designed my own elevator. It only takes up a 3 by 3 space, and the shaft itself is 2 by 2. The water that the boat uses is completely hidden. It is completely safe, I've never had an accident with it, and it only uses one boat.
What it is basically:

Loading the boat into the shaft will be very hard. Make sure you do it from the bottom, and make lots of room for the placement; you can always wall it back in later. A 5 by 5 space at the bottom while putting in the boat will make your life easier.
