微软称将在Windows 8中放弃Windows Live品牌

    微软当地时间5月2日通过Building Windows 8博客发文称，该公司将放弃Window
s Live品牌。

    包括Messenger、Photo Gallery、Movie Maker、Writer、Live Mesh和Family
Safety在内的Windows附件的品牌名Windows Live Essentials也将被淘汰，不属于Wi
ndows Live Essentials的其他Windows Live服务——例如Hotmail和SkyDrive，将
采用更简洁的名称。





    在Windows 8中，一系列Windows Live服务将被称作“应用”(apps)。微软今年2
月份发布的Windows 8消费者预览版包含部分这些应用的预览版。

    这就引发了一个问题：目前的Windows用户——Vista和Windows 7用户怎么办？他
们可能继续获得支持，但是，能否获得新功能，以及以何种方式获得新功能还是个未知
数。微软高管没有就该公司的相关计划发表评论。

    微软发言人没有就今天的博文是否意味着当前版本的Windows Live服务将被逐步
淘汰，以及何时以何种方式被淘汰发表评论。
