Welcome to Perishton, our new and biggest city yet. Navezgane is really coming together now with our biggest world update ever! It sports loads of new POIs and four additional square kilometers of space to explore. We haven’t stopped there, our modelers are adding lots of new textures and models to enhance the look of the world. We’ve added banks, diners, cellular towers, marinas and boat docks, cemeterys, car lots, and a wasteland shanty town, which I will show soon.

I’ve been making some new block shapes this week. I added a curved corner, new curbs, and I made some letters that allow us to add signs to the world without using up additional texture memory! These will be craftable by players too and and add much needed immersion to cities. I also made this old roadside diner which takes advantage of all the new shapes showcased.

There’s a new sheriff in town! This is the first look at the new super sized Navezgane! We have a new smoothing algorithm which smooths the terrain much better than before and will be adding TONS of new locations. We’ve improved water to terrain transitions  so the shoreline no longer looks square either.

Here is a first look at our “old” player face and our new sunsets, which I’ve worked on unifying. They all get dark at the same time now, so no more WTF moments where it still looks light outside but the zombies are running. The second shot is exactly what it looked like when the stinger went off and night begins. We also have a new smoothing algorithm for Navezgane which makes the terrain much smoother.

And yes this is Alpha 14 stuff but we haven’t forgotten about you guys playing 13. We are working on one last patch, no map resets will be required either.

Here is a quick look at the new hide poncho and some improvements we made to the handling of one handed weapons. Basically before any time you had a one handed item or weapon out your whole upper body went stiff, now we only animate the arm when you carry it so moving around you see the left hand move about and torso and head movement as well. It’s much better looking and we’re excited to see this improvement.

New workstations! I’d like to show you the new workbench which lets you basically duplicate yourself for crafting items. Tired of your crafting queue all clogged up making frames to build? Then unlock a workstation with a perk and build as many things as you want!

Also shown is the new concrete mixer, great for busting rocks into gravel and making concrete mix for all your mass production needs! No book required, you can also build this after buying a perk. The book is still there, for now we haven’t gotten rid of any books yet but we’re allowing major components of the game to be purchased through a perk system.

New player deaths! Its not done or polished but a proof of concept. When players die zombies now eat their corpses for a little while. The corpse becomes a backpack after the zombies are done eating the corpse and then resume chasing other players.
