If this game has taught me anything, it's that most of the negative reviews are people who can't do simple maths, and boy there are a lot of them. Yes this is a gacha game, I feel like this is something a lot of players going into the game were not aware of and they end up angry at the monetization system for the wrong reasons. I am not defending micro-transactions in general, but this is standard practice for a mobile game. The rates are similar to Genshin, not worse. Daily income so far seems a bit more generous, we also get a lot of free pulls because it's the beggining. It will dry out eventually, but nothing new if you already played a gacha in your life.
Everything else about the game is quite good, art and music is obviously the selling point, the story is really engaging and everything is voice acted, I could do without the Paimon version of the game, but I've seen worse. The combat is not as bad as people make it out to be, it's a mix between Genshin and a Souls Like but 2D. The bosses are getting more difficult as you progress and quite challenging even. Nothing revolutionnary, but I am definitely enjoying it so far. There is also pvp if you're into that, you can even do it on auto if you are lazy.
You DON'T NEED to spend anything to progress, the free characters are good and versatile. You'll get enough pulls to complete your roster along the way including 5* characters.
Can they do better and improve various aspects of the game? Of course, I am not praising everything about Astra : Knights of Veda. The UI, monetization and rates are definitely on the bad side, but the review bombing is definitely undeserved.
If anything the advertisement is missleading, this game is for mobile/gacha enjoyers, not single player veterans.
Regardless of the fact that this is at a core a mobile game, I would still give the campaign a try if you enjoy Anime style Dark Fantasy like Berserk which the game takes inspiration from, just be aware that you have to play it daily and grind a bit to unlock everything.
