Was Eternal worth $2.99?...
Yes. I would even go as far as to say I would pay up to $5.00 for the game. I judged the game early on and criticized the developer in my head, but was quickly put in my place once zombies started running at me and I died my first death.
Game Length...
It took me 2.4 hours to beat. It's very short. I would compare it to one chapter in any well known horror game you've played.
What was good about it?
I got some good jump scares, even one from my dog getting up lol. Good amount of reading to do, but not too much reading. Sound effects were above average. Cool weapons. Mannequin concept added to the game's uniqueness and made it more frustrating / fun. Solving the code at the end was very clever Harkee! If you can't figure it out.. (SPOILER ALERT AT VERY BOTTOM)
What was bad about it?
I honestly can't say it was bad. At first I was picking it apart for the $2.99 price until I started getting chased by zombies and had to figure out how to escape the asylum.
What can be done better?
These are not complaints, but suggestions for the next game.
1. Doors should open both ways.
2. Had to repeatedly click to get the axe to swing. Sometimes it wouldn't swing.
3. I would swing on wood or metal and get the wood hit sound.
4. One of the zombies flailing it's arms in one spot was more funny than scary.
5. Not being able to run while reloading bothered me.
6. Character's run animation looked funny.
7. Box taking too long to disappear, so I had to wait to see what was inside.
8. Wanted more of an impact animation from my bullets. Didn't see much blood coming out or anything.
9. Obviously a longer game with more environmental objects. It's very plain even though I know it's an asylum. (I'm being completely understanding as I think this is Harkee's first game on Steam.)
10. I couldn't kill the mannequin. Not sure how this could potentially make sense because it's such a cool add-on. Maybe it should've been metal or spiritual instead of a solid object.
Would I play another game from this developer?
100%. You guys are on the right track. I hope you read my suggestions and if they're met, I would gladly pay $59.99 for your next game.
(SPOILER - Remember how many times you died.) |
