[UPDATED] Treyarch are developing Modern Warfare 3 for the Nintendo Wii.
It was revealed recently on the OneofSwords Podcast » that Treyarch would be developing Modern Warfare 3 for the Nintendo Wii. Treyarch has also developed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex and Call of Duty: Black Ops for the Wii which makes it more than qualified to handle Modern Warfare 3.
Robert Bowling, Infinty Wards Creative Strategist, was quoted as saying; "The great thing is Treyarch proved that you can have an awesome experience on the Wii with Call of Duty. They'll actually be handling that for Modern Warfare 3."
This is sure to be great news for Wii fans as it ensures that they will not be missing out on Modern Warfare 3, which launches for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 8th.
[UPDATE] - OneofSwords made a new post on his blog this afternoon regarding the comment by Robert Bowling about Treyarch doing the Wii version of Modern Warfare 3. After bugging the Production Team for more information, this is what he came up with; - Treyarch is handling the Wii edition of Modern Warfare 3. They have a long history of Wii development as well as a proven Call of Duty history — to say the least! — so they’re a great fit.
- The plan is to bring MW3 out on Wii on the same day as the other versions being developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, but it’s a different platform with different capabilities, so this is not confirmed yet — there’s still work to do. I’ll update you when I know more.
- A lot of MW3 will fit into the Wii, but there may be differences. Multiplayer is confirmed for sure. When I know more about what the differences may be, I will report back.
- There’s also a Nintendo DS edition planned, which is being developed by n-Space. They’ve done the handheld editions of COD4:MW, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, and World at War, among many other DS games. So, the DS version is also in expert hands.
He finished the post by saying that he will try and get some more information before the game releases.
