Please read the description for known issues and details before posting any bugs or problems!  You do not have to make a clean save for any update past 1.12 if you already use the ESM.

!!!IMPORTANT!!!  As of 1.12, the mod has been re-coded entirely using FO4Edit, and has been converted to an ESM. See Update notes for how to update if you are using 1.11 or prior!
Ever feel your settlements were a bit "lacking?"  Want something to help spice up your shack? Homemaker is here to help!

Homemaker is a mod that greatly expands on the vanilla crafting system for settlements, and adds over 500 new objects to craft, ranging from cars, to refrigerators to street lights and everywhere in between!  The mod also features a new Institute build set, with placeable snapping walls, floors, stairways and more!  Whether your longing for the good ol' days, just trying to scratch out a new living in the wastes, or a sadistic raider, Homemaker has something for you!

Here are a few examples of what the mod adds:

  • New Institute build set, with walls, floors, stairs, foundations and more!  It's a bit bare bones right now, and limited to material swaps of vanilla items, but there's enough currently there to make some interesting buildings!  Please see known issues section for current limitations.

  • An overhaul of many of the vanilla categories to make many objects easier to find.  The vanilla categories have still been retained, so any mods that add anything to them will still be compatible.  See the next section for a full breakdown of the changes
  • Hundreds of new decorative objects, ranging from cars, to trees, to coffee machines and much, much more!
  • New farmable crops - Siltbeans and Tarberries, and working planters like the kind found at Greygarden or Vault 81.

  • New Beds, Chairs, Toilets, Showers, Counters and other household objects, from both pre- and post-war! The beds also all count to your settlements bed total, and yes, bunk beds and double beds count as two separate beds.

  • Over 35 new usable lights ranging from candles, table lamps, fluorescent lights, fire barrels, lanterns, and even working streetlights!  All electric lights use passive power like the other non-connectable vanilla lights.

  • Four new fence sets: Covenant concrete walls, chain-link fences, both rusted and pre-war,  BoS Military Barriers and platforms, and Wrought-Iron Fences. Each one has its own custom category, all stored in "Fences" section of the workshop. Also included is a new Misc. Barriers category filled with new barricades ranging from construction barriers to velvet rope dividers.
  • Many, Many other new buildable objects Try it and see for yourself!  The vast majority of objects have proper icon scaling and balanced recipes, and those that don't will be getting it soon!
  • Homemaker overhauls the vanilla category system to make it much more efficient and easy to use.  However, it keeps the vanilla categories intact, so mods that just add things to the vanilla categories should all remain compatible.  See the Compatibility section below for any other compatibility related concerns.

    Starting from the top, the Buildings category has had the new Institute build items introduced with their own category, in addition to 5 new sub-categories in the Fences category for the 4 new fence types and the miscellaneous barriers.  The Buildings/Miscellaneous category has also been expanded and is home to several new structures and items that can be used in your settlements, such as cinderblocks, farm plots, shipping containers, and new raider and super mutant style objects.

    The Furniture category received the most changes. Chairs, Containers and Tables have been broken up into more manageable categories.  "Chairs" has been turned into "Seats", and separated into Benches, Couches, Chairs and Stools.  "Tables" is now "Surfaces" and broken into End Tables, Coffee Tables, Dining Tables, Counters and Cabinets, and Misc.  Containers are now Supplies, Home, Office and Misc, with Supplies being the category full of containers most players tend to store their stuff in.  In addition, the container objects that were once stored in Decorative/Misc section have been moved to the containers group, mostly in the Misc section.

    Decorative objects sees the addition of the vehicles and trees categories, each with sub-categories for each family of object contained with in (sports cars, institute trees, etc).  Floor coverings was broken into Large floor coverings, small floor coverings, and Paths, containing the new foot path objects.  Miscellaneous was broken into Exterior, Interior, and Misc., and is now used mostly to house clutter objects like playground equipment, file boxes, etc.  In addition, potted plants were given their own category under the Miscellaneous section and will show up when you find the appropriate perk magazine.

    Lastly come Lights and Food.  Lights were separated into Ceiling Lights, Floor and Table Lamps, Wall Lights and Misc. Lights.  Currently the wall lights category only contains one light, but I hope to expand this once I can edit animated meshes.  Lastly, food was broken into Plants and Planters, for ease of access.

    As I said above, the vanilla categories were left in and simply given new names to fit the current system.  Below is a list of the vanilla categories before and after:

    Buildings/Miscellaneous -> Buildings/Miscellaneous/Miscellaneous
    Furniture/Chairs -> Furniture/Seats/Chairs
    Furniture/Tables -> Furniture/Surface/Misc
    Furniture/Containers -> Furniture/Containers/Misc
    Decorations/Floor Coverings -> Decorations/Floor Coverings/Large Floor Coverings
    Decorations/Miscellaneous -> Decorations/Miscellaneous/Miscellaneous
    Power/Lights -> Power/Lights/Misc Lights
    Resources/Food -> Resources/Food/Plants
  • Install Instructions:

    • Download the file and extract Homemaker.esp and Meshes folder to your Fallout4\Data folder

    • Enable using NMM or another ESM file manager

    If installing without NMM you will need to enable file folders in your Fallout ini.  Please go to this link for more information.

    If you have a mod that adds a recipe to one of the categories on the left, it will show up in the corresponding category on the right.
  • Homemaker is compatible with most mods that don't touch the crafting system. It is incompatible with mods that effect most of the vanilla categories, or alters any of the vanilla recipes that were changed to use the new revised categories.  However, it is fairly easy to make compatibility patches for it, as all one would have to do is add the category you want to add to the vanilla or revised category formlist.  If you have any questions about the particulars, feel free to send me a PM.

    A compatibility patch for SSEx is available in the downloads section.
  • Known Issues:

    • The Institute doorway, half wall and partition wall (the one with the yellow stripe) currently do not have snap points.  They have simple intersection enabled so your able to fit them kinda tight to the meshes, but you still might have to fight with them.  I had tried  adding snap points to them, but ran into lots of minor issues that made the unusable.  Should be a quick fix when importing/exporting models is enabled though.

    • Several of the lights, including all the street lights, have their point of emittance in the wrong place, making it shine from the wrong end.  Fixing this is currently on hold until Nifskope becomes able to edit animated objects without having the model crash the game.

    • Candles will sometimes lose their lights if you leave the cell they're in and have to be replaced.  I believe it to be a mesh error.

    • Many of the smaller lights (desk lights, table lights) are movable static objects, and will fall over if you bump them. This sounds nice, but the workshop placement engine is not capable of righting them again, and they are unable to be picked back up once knocked over by holding "e". I found a potential fix which allows them to be picked up and carried at the expense of being unscrappable. I will keep trying to get find an ideal fix for this issue.

    • Some of the lights models are permanently set to look either "off" or "on", or will vary between the two seemingly at random.  This is an issue with how Bethesda decided to categorize light models, and should be fixable with the GECK.  In the meantime, I was able to fix things by saving and reloading.

    • Many of the lights can be placed in weird non-standard positions (like halfway through the ceiling) in addition to their normal placement.  It's entirely cosmetic though, so it shouldn't be a problem.

    • The covenant gate cannot currently have any doors placed inside of it, and none of the current walls/fences are snappable.  It's 100% a mesh issue and is being looked at for 1.2.

    • Objects that are meant to walked on/through (BoS Platforms, walkways and stairs) are all currently unuseable by NPC's.  As such, avoid placing anything such as beds, guardposts, etc on them or through them, as NPC's will be unable to reach them.  Covenant gates were fixed, and all new institute floor models and most new shack models have navmesh data. Will be attempting to add these to other objects soon.
    • The covenant wall turret stand's collision mesh is a bit funky, but it works.  It needs to be placed on the very top of the wall you want to use it on, but it can be used on the other types of walls too. It holds turrets now though!

    Translations
    Thanks to everyone who helped translate the mod so far!  Some versions may be out of date, and I have not had a chance to inspect each one, so use at your own risk!
